The 26 contestants — and 127 scantily-clad “Wingettes” (read: strippers) who cheer them on from the stage — enter the arena on a parade-style floats, which most often reference Philadelphia’s sports teams. More than one-third of the floats slandered embattled Eagles head coach Andy Reid. The nominal title for most offensive went to Dave “U.S. Male” Goldstein, the Vorhees, N.J., letter carrier who qualified by eating four pounds of lasagna in five minutes. He decapitated a life-size Styrofoam effigy of the mustachioed coach (with a fully functional guillotine labeled REIDJECTOR and paraded the bloody head around the floor area on a stake. Among the VIPs wandering the grounds were adult-film stars Jenna Jameson, Mary Carey and Ron Jeremy. A live band hammered arena rock standards from the back of the room next to a parade of exotic dancers taking turns on a mechanical bull.

WELCOME TO THE STRIPPER CIRCUS, A LONELY WORLD

It’s also impossible to talk to anyone about Wing Bowl without pointing out that 9 out of 10 people think it’s a joke, an occasion to get drunk at the crack of dawn and see the yearly gathering of strippers show off their breasts. Kobi embraces this circus atmosphere and credits the creators for the base idea, but he won’t let it knock him off his game either.

It’s a bit of a contradiction, how he takes his sport so seriously — “there’s no room to be silly” — yet at the same time realize that his Super Bowl, his World Series Game 7 takes place in a booze-infested stripper-packed arena where fans cheer the loudest for nipples and vomiting. But make no mistake, he’s absolutely serious about eating as a sport. After pointing out that he’s at the top of his craft, considered the best in the world to ever do what he does, Kobi seemed to get a bit philosophical.

It has been more than 26 months since Jimmy Koons was knocked unconscious and left bleeding from his ears and head in the parking lot of a Southwest Philadelphia strip club.

“I will definitely be back for the criminal trial,” he said last week. “I want justice, that’s all. I want justice for my friend who got killed. I will be there for Jimmy.”The cases have been continued until Oct. 15 due to the combination of a crowded Philadelphia docket and scheduling conflicts among the attorneys, prosecutors and judge.Pettit’s attorney, Gregory Pagano, expects his client to beat the murder rap.“I don’t think the evidence shows what the charges would require the evidence to show,” he said. “In other words, I don’t think the evidence shows that a murder was committed.”Pagano said Pettit used an appropriate amount of force and claims the video confirms that fact.“I’ve seen it a few times and I think it is consistent with what my client said happened,” he said.At the time of his …

GEORGE FOREACRE is not a coldhearted guy. But he couldn’t help but celebrate this week’s death of notorious strip-club mogul Robert Laflar, who faced trial in October in the fatal beating of Foreacre’s friend. “I know he [Laflar] has children, and they’re innocents. That’s the ones I feel bad for,” said Foreacre, 37, who survived the 2009 attack outside Laflar’s strip club that left him with four fractured vertebrae and his buddy Jimmy Koons dead. “But when you dance with the devil, you got to answer to the devil, and he answered to the devil today. It’s a good day.”

The FBI was investigating Laflar’s strip clubs and his auto-salvage shop, Gianni’s, in connection with alleged kickbacks involving the Philadelphia Police Department and the Department of Licenses and Inspections, the Inquirer reported last February.

January 19, 2012 (WPVI) — When three guys get together to watch a Flyers game, the last thing you might think they would talk about is ideas for daycare, but that’s exactly what a trio of Center City Philadelphia chums did, and a lot more.
They created a state of the art Children’s Enrichment Center for their kids and hundreds more!
The guys went to elementary and high school together, and now they’re raising their children together in the city and in the child care center they developed and opened.
The “Nest” opened four months ago, and is located at 13th and Locust Streets in Center City Philadelphia.
The former strip club is 15,000 square feet of space for kids to learn and play, and is a much-needed resource for a new breed of parents in Philadelphia.

DOVER, Del. (AP) – Delaware Gov. Jack Markell is set to deliver his annual state-of-the-state speech to the General Assembly. DOVER, Del. (AP) – Federal officials say destructive nutria have been found in Delaware. On “RapFix Live,” Rose talked about the on-stage compliment, saying, “At first, I was like, ‘Wow, maybe he is sorry for just not being a good guy, and not treating me the way I want to be treated and talking down to me. I instantly was like, ‘I forgive him.’”
But then Rose heard the song “New Day” (from the “Watch the Throne” album), which includes a lyric that says strip clubs “ain’t the place to get love.” And, apparently, Rose felt it was targeted towards her.
“That’s when I was like, ‘You know what? Take your apology and shove it up your a–, because I don’t want to hear it,’” said Rose, on her reaction to hearing the lyric. “He didn’t meet me in a strip club. He knows he didn’t meet me in a strip club. He was just being a mean, negative person, and that’s one of the main reasons why I’m not with him.”

To her, it all seemed very sincere. “When I first saw it, I was like, ‘Yo, I forgive him.’ I let that go. I went through the crying and the heartbreak and all that stuff, and I moved on, and I’m so happy now that I actually have a gentleman, a great guy that I love so much,” Rose said of current boyfriend Wiz Khalifa. “Then after he called me an incredible person in my hometown, he said, ‘Never find love in a strip club.’ And that’s when I was like, ‘You know what? Take your apology and shove it up your ass, because I don’t want to hear it.’ “
The “Never find love in a strip club” line wasn’t from the Philly concert, though it is a Yeezy lyric from the Throne’s “New Day,” in which West passes life lessons to his unborn son. “New Day” was actually released in August, months before the concert, and in the song, Kanye makes no mention of Amber’s name, but it still rubbed the beauty the wrong way. According to Amber, who feels the lyric was a shot at her, the ex-couple didn’t meet in a gentlemen’s club.

I quick jaunt across the Burlington Bristol Bridge and you’ve got the remarkable Tovah, on stage in “Gypsy” at the Bristol Riverside Theater, a venue which is earning a mighty reputation as an alternative to the Philadelphia theater scene.
With its Stephen Sondheim lyrics, “Gypsy” is a showcase for this mega-gifted actress who has played triumphantly on Broadway in “Yentyl,” “Golda’s Balcony” and other productions that have won Feldshuh an enviable list of well-deserved acclaim and awards.
“Gypsy” itself became an instant showcase for the late great Ethel Merman, and a succession of other actresses like Angela Lansbury, Tyne Daly and Patti LuPone. The role begs to be played by someone who can deliver the complex and often tempestuous relationship between the mother of Gypsy Rose Lee and the elegant stripper herself.

DeSean Jackson has always been a polarizing figure in Philadelphia. He is a talented player with incredible speed. He can go unnoticed for 55 minutes and then burn the opposing back, expose the coverage and win the game.
Unfortunately, his demeanor is not that much of an asset.
Jackson opted to hold out during the 2011 training camp, missing some valuable practice sessions and frustrating many Eagles fans. He also missed a team meeting before the game against the Cardinals and was named inactive by coach Andy Reid.
His latest achievement is a photo with a pole dancer. DeSean is in Miami and he didn’t miss the chance to visit one of the city’ most famous strip clubs. It appears that he was in the club until the early hours.
