Philadelphia Adult Entertainment: Sunny stymied by commercials
September 23, 2011
It’s an understatement to say that the bar has been set high for season seven. The premiere registered only a blip on the radar of laughs. Riddled by far too many commercials, the episode opened interestingly enough: Frank is dating a prostitute.
Unfortunately, the plot and comedy did not go far from there. The writers, perhaps aware of their own shortcomings, titled the sow premiere “Frank’s Pretty Woman.”
Sunny had all its usual ingredients for a knock out episode: drugs, alcohol and Charlie wallowing in his own filth. Oh yeah, Mac is really fat too. Yet the jokes seemed to be a step behind. Frank plans on proposing to his prostitute girlfriend Roxy, but Charlie advises against it. The two end up driving a limo with an unsuspecting woman riding along as Charlie’s date. She thinks she’s going out with a millionaire.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Two Ukrainian brothers charged with luring desperate villagers to the United States and enslaving them went on trial Monday in Philadelphia in a case that opens a window into the hidden world of human trafficking.

Philadelphia Escorts: Craigslist pimp for underage girls sentenced to prison
September 21, 2011
Prosecutors say Javon “Teflon” Gordon acted as the pimp of the prostitution ring from September 2007 until July 2008 and he admitted to managing the females who were required to turn over monies they made from performing sexual acts on customers to Gordon.
Gordon used Craigslist to solicit the females and traveled to Boston and Philadelphia to pick up a minor and adult female whom he later transported back to the New Jersey area for the purpose of prostitution. In addition to transporting the females, the 29-year-old posted nude and sexually suggestive photographs of the females on various social websites to advertise and promote the prostitution. The victims, at Gordon’s behest, propositioned clients on the streets as well as Atlantic City casinos and the Internet, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
The two counts to which U.S. District Judge Robert B. Kugler sentenced Gordon also require the defendant to register as a sex offender. If the former pimp had gone to trial and been found guilty, each cou …

Philadelphia Escorts: Spotlight on . . . Jacory Harris | Philadelphia Daily News | 2011-09-15
September 21, 2011
At Miami’s Northwestern High, Jacory Harris led his team to a 30-0 record and two state titles as a starter. So he came to Coral Gables with obvious expectations. As a freshman he split time with Robert Marve, who then transferred to Purdue. In an interview before the 2009 season Harris said he was going to pick up his Heisman Trophy wearing a pink suit with a “pimp cup” in hand. In the exchange he earned himself a new nickname: Afro Buttercup.
It hasn’t quite worked out that way. He suffered a shoulder injury and concussion last season, and Stephen Morris started the Hurricanes’ last four games. Harris got the job back for the Sun Bowl against Notre Dame, but was yanked after tossing three interceptions in what became a 16-point loss.
Philadelphia Escorts: ‘Sunny’ returns for seventh season
September 21, 2011
Charlie Kelly, Mac and twin siblings Dennis and Dee Reynolds along with their father Frank Reynolds have all been entertaining audiences with their selfish attitudes and the general way in which they have been living their lives in the shows primary location in Philadelphia, Pa.
The characters all share ownership of a local bar, Paddy’s Irish Pub, but its lack of success over the years has seen them getting involved in many unusual situations that are infused with racism, egomania, over-the-top self-indulgence and in many episodes, alcohol abuse primarily by Kaitlin Olson’s character, Dee Reynolds.
Danny DeVito’s character Frank wasn’t introduced until the start of the second season, but his generally egotistical attitude and never-ending diabolicalness have been a huge hit with the viewers. Over the years they have seen Frank go from pimping out his own son to setting his daughter on fire.
Philadelphia Adult Entertainment: Pottstown can benefit from watchful Angels
September 20, 2011
Curtis Sliwa, the New York founder of Guardian Angels, described the group as “average everyday people making a difference.”
Sliwa came to Pottstown for the graduation ceremony at Pottstown Karate on Hanover Street and then spent some time at the Carousel of Flavor food festival on High Street before heading back to New York.
His presence and the establishment of a local Angels chapter was initiated by Rob Matthews, Pottstown chapter leader and owner of Pottstown Karate. Matthews said he decided to create a chapter for the borough in the fall of 2010 after seeing prostitution and drug deals being made in broad daylight.
Matthews, who trained with the Philadelphia chapter of the Guardian Angels in 1980s, and has trained chapters in Phoenixville and Allentown, said feeling “uncomfortable” because of prostitutes, drug dealers and other criminals was unacceptable for Pottstown.
