PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Coach Chan Gailey’s has added more hitting to Buffalo Bills’ training camp and it has raised tensions on the practice field.
Centre Geoff Hangartner and linebacker Aaron Maybin exchanged shoves and wrestled each other to the ground midway through practice Friday morning. Things got heated after Maybin shoved running back Fred Jackson from behind and sent him sliding along the grass field.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – It’s time for Jeff Fisher to open his 16th straight training camp with the Tennessee Titans, and that first practice Saturday will be a welcome return to football after a busy off-season.
Fisher expects Chris Johnson to show up, happy the Titans reshuffled some money to pay him more for 2010. Vince Young will be available for all 16 games, and Fisher hopes maybe more, with the NFL not punishing him for a Dallas strip club tussle in June.

A Reading woman killed early Wednesday when a car hit her in Dickson City may have been a prostitute for an online call-girl operation in Berks County that was dismantled within hours of her death.
Lidia Flores, 19, had a tattoo on her neck that matches a design that Paul W. Sewell, 44, of Reading, allegedly used to brand as many as 20 women who worked for him. He ran a website called Cash Money Brothers and also advertised the escorts on Facebook and Craigslist, Berks County authorities told the Reading Eagle newspaper.
Mr. Sewell called himself God and tried unsuccessfully tried to make it his legal name, the Reading paper reported. The women in his alleged prostitution ring all had tattoos such as “Gods Toy” and “Gods Property.”

Mr. Adams said detectives are still gathering names of the alleged prostitutes who worked for Mr. Sewell. Three have been charged so far with prostitution and related offenses.

Berks County is also exploring whether Mr. Sewell pimped underage girls and coerced his prostitutes into service.

Make Your Offensive Line Work For Their Reward. As you know, it’s customary for a running back to reward his offensive line with gifts after a good season. Most guys purchase nice watches, TVs, sound systems, etc. High-end stuff. But according to Jeff Pearlman’s indispensable Boys Will Be Boys, Emmitt Smith went the other direction one year. Rather than rolexes or TVs, Smith gave each member of the offensive line a signed copy of his autobiography.
What a guy, right? Apparently he was all out of headshots. Believe me, I’m not suggesting replicating Emmitt’s cheapskate move. At least not entirely.
No, a star running back should give his lineman copies of his book AND a ridiculous present. The catch is, they have to read the book and pass a quiz to find out what they get on the other side:
Minnesota Vikings lineman: “Will it be a car? A Rolex? An apartment full of prostitutes?”

A.C. unlikely to attract families

TRENTON — Think of it as a big stakes contest between horse racing and a concept Gov. Chris Christie calls “Las Vegas East.” Ironically, the horses lost by several lengths. But will the winning ticket pay?
It is hard to imagine what the state’s taking over a “casino and entertainment district” in Atlantic City would accomplish. “Investors do not want to go to a city they see as unclean and unsafe” the governor said in announcing the project. He’s right.
Atlantic City is sometimes referred to as Camden by the Sea because not far from the casinos are vacant lots, vacant buildings and corners where prostitutes and drug dealers do their business. Gaming was brought to town to eradicate that.
Establish a district if you will, but the rest of town will be there, still looking unsafe and uninviting. The beach is free but it can’t compare to nicer ones nearby.

… Have you got deodorant?” Brenda asked Unique, a 29-year-old prostitute. “When we come back Friday, we’ll have shirts and shoes. You need new flip-flops?”
Unique, wearing worn flip-flops and a lace miniskirt, stood in front of a vacant lot where a sign that said “Heal Camden” sat among the weeds. She’s been on the street for four years.

A little kitten stuck its head out of Yvonne’s pocketbook as she walked on Broadway with a little Pomeranian she had found. The 39-year-old Lindenwold native said she never gets mistaken for a prostitute and that her needle marks are new.

For all of the prostitutes, addicts and other lost souls who eke out an existence on Camden’s streets, it’s drugs that cause the pain, and for brief moments every day, when they can scrounge enough money, the drugs make it go away.

Wednesday night I attended Delilahâs 8th Annual Diamond G-String Award. It’s the only competition of its kind, and is open to dance teams. Entertainers and individuals from around the country work the stage and stripper pole and battle it out for the $10,000 winner-take-all prize.  The annual event usually draws a nice crowd of who’s who on the young social circuit, as well as regulars, those who enjoy watching erotic dancing, the curious and the uninhibited. The place was packed; the atmosphere was a huge Mardi Gras.

Having gotten most of my stripper knowledge from the movie Showgirls, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the event. But I was pleasantly surprised and floored when I saw the production numbers performed. Not only were they creative, but darn these girls are in great shape strength-wise. Working the strippers bar, or hanging perpendicular. Just amazing. Plus, what a range of role-playing, er, I mean characters. Above is Isabella and her team of circus performers. At one point, one of these girls swallowed a sword. Julie Abramson worked the trapeze high in the sky, and some of her Jewelz Girls performed various circus acts as a guy on stilts juggled. It was quite a show.

That noble, ongoing effort is chronicled ever so artistically in “Poet of Poverty,” a reverential bio-pic co-directed by Sean Dougherty, Tana Ross and Freke Vuijst. For not only has their worthy subject spearheaded a number of urban renewal projects such as a health clinic, a thrift store, a community garden and a greenhouse, but he has written a series of honest, heartfelt letters over the years assessing the painstaking progress of his beloved Camden.
These monthly missives were subsequently published in a moving memoir entitled, “It’s a Terrible Day… Thanks Be to God.” And in this equally-evocative documentary, which might best be thought of as a cinematic companion piece, narrator Martin Sheen reads a variety of visually-augmented excerpts from that journal.
Besides an array of lyrical lines, the film feature shots of Doyle as he attends to his flock, including touching moments ranging from tearful memorial services for victims of drive-by shootings to a show of compassion for a coke-addicted prostitute who unknowingly propositions the celibate cleric with “Your place or mine?”
