There is no boasting today in the Big Apple. There are only frowns. And the gnawing worry that this Yankees team does not have the magic of its predecessors.
Last night, all the magic was wearing red pinstripes.
And Cliff Lee, General Lee, was in full command of the troops.
Tonight there will be more dread for Yankees fans. An old nemesis will take the hill for the Phils.
Pedro Martinez is back. Let’s just say that he is not the apple of the Big Apple’s eye.
Start spreading the news indeed.
One down, three to go.
Another 15 minutes of fame
No doubt there must be a reality show in the works for Susan Finkelstein.
When Andy Warhol talked about everyone getting their 15 minutes of fame, he might have had her in mind.
Finkelstein is the woman charged with soliciting prostitution after she posted an ad on the Craigslist Web site “desperately” seeking World Series tickets.
PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 29 (UPI) — A Philadelphia woman accused of trying to trade sex for World Series tickets will receive two tickets to game three, a radio host said.
Chio, host of Chio in the Morning on WIRED-FM, said he and Philadelphia car dealer Gary Barbera plan to present two tickets to Saturday’s game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Yankees in Philadelphia to Susan Finkelstein Friday at Barbera’s car dealership, the Philadelphia Daily News reported Thursday.
Finkelstein, 43, who was cited for charges of soliciting prostitution and related misdemeanors by an undercover officer responding to her Craigslist ad, said her intention was not to trade sex for tickets.
“DESPERATE BLONDE NEEDS WS TIX (Philadelphia),” the ad read. “Diehard Phillies fan – gorgeous tall buxom blonde – in desperate need of two World Series Tickets. Price negotiable – I’m the creative type! Maybe we can help each other!”

Lee put on a one-man show Wednesday night, handcuffing the New York Yankees in a 6-1 Phillies win. The left hander threw a complete game, striking out 10, walking none, the run he gave up was unearned and, for good measure, he even caught a ball behind his back.
Finkelstein’s cuffs came Tuesday night after her pitch — an ad for World Series tickets — came out on Craigslist.
“DESPERATE BLONDE NEEDS WS TIX — Diehard Phillies fan—gorgeous tall buxom blonde — in desperate need of two World Series Tickets. Price negotiable— I’m the creative type! Maybe we can help each other!”
An undercover cop met with the 43-year-old married University of Pennsylvania grad student in a suburban Philadelphia bar, allegedly, stating that he and his brother had World Series tickets for sale.
According to the cop, Finkelstein offered to perform sex acts on both of them, saying “Well, I’d rather have two tickets and I could take care of both of you.”
That got her busted on a prostitution charge.
The undercover officer said his brother did and claimed Finkelstein offered to have sex with both men for the two tickets.
Finkelstein’s lawyer, William J Brennan, said that while the Craigslist ad had “double entendres”, his client never mentioned “sex” in exchange for the tickets.
“If somebody read into that posting a sexual connotation, that’s on them. There’s no overt sexual reference,” he said.
Finkelstein told TV station WPVI-TV she was looking to get a deal on tickets.
“I was hoping to get cheap tickets… maybe meet someone, and talk, and bat my eyelashes and maybe get some tickets,” she said.
Mr Brennan called the exchange the result of a “nice lady overcome with Phillies fever” and an “overzealous cop”.
He is hoping to get the misdemeanour charge of promoting prostitution dismissed.

Chio also said that Finkelstein’s lawyer asserted that she is not guilty of prostitution and her arrest is the result of a misunderstanding with Bensalem, Pa., police.
Finkelstein tells Fox 29 she’s the biggest Phillies’ fan around with her favorite player being Jamie Moyer. She says she’d do almost anything for tickets to the World Series except offer sex in exchange for seats.
“The anger has really started to also grow along with a sense of absurdity of how widespread this has become,” says Finkelstein.
She and her husband, John, have been married for 12 years and the Phils have been a constant.
“I’ve seen or listened to part or all of every game this season so it’s just a great source of pleasure for me and my husband,” says Finkelstein.

Philadelphia Strip Clubs: Doylestown Hospital receives recognition
October 29, 2009
In recognition of its environmental leadership, Doylestown Hospital has received a Trailblazer Award from the federal Environmental Protection Agency.
The EPA’s Trailblazer Award, now in its third year, recognizes hospitals in the Philadelphia area and Delaware that have served as models for other hospitals and shown leadership in a particular area of sustainability.
These hospitals are helping to pave the way to move all area hospitals forward by reducing their environmental footprint.
There are several initiatives at Doylestown Hospital that make an impact on patient safety and the environment, including housekeeping and infection prevention.
The housekeeping department uses reusable microfiber mops (one mop per patient room) that save money over traditional string mops and reduce cross contamination.
The department also uses a chemical-free floor stripper that virtually eliminates the need for harsh chemical strippers and improves indoor air quality.

Finkelstein told KYW that she was only trying to make her ad stand out on the popular classified Web site.
“Trying to see if I could get some cheap tickets and seeing what was out there,” Finkelstein said.
Investigators said undercover officers met with Finkelstein at a bar in Bensalem and that her offer was simple.
“She basically said that she would trade sexual favors for a Phillies ticket. She was creative, she didn’t have any money. I don’t know what the Series tickets are going for, but she decided that she would give herself up for some World Series tickets,” Harran explained.
Finkelstein has been charged with Soliciting Prostitution and related offenses.
Philadelphia Adult Entertainment: Woman offers sex for baseball World Series tickets
October 29, 2009
Susan Finkelstein was so desperate to see the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team compete in the World Series against the New York Yankees she offered herself for sale, police said.
The 43-year-old is accused of placing an advert on internet site Craiglist under the heading: ‘Desperate Blonde needs WS Tix’.
She described herself as a tall, buxom blonde adding: ‘Price negotiable -I’m the creative type! Maybe we can help each other.’
Police in Philadelphia, who scour Craigslist for prostitutes and child molesters, responded to the advert.
An undercover officer met Finkelstein at a Philadelphia bar where she offered to perform sex acts in return for a ticket.
The married woman was arrested and charged with prostitution
The lawyer of Susan Finkelstein said she was simply “overcome with Phillies fever” as she is denying the charge of promoting prostitution.
