Philadelphia Adult Entertainment: ‘It’s Always Sunny’ makes its long-awaited return

Two: There’s Mac, better known for his nickname because of his “cat-like” reflexes. Will he bring back the famed “duster” that we all love so much, continue to secretly “put in his time” with Carmen, the pre-op transsexual, or just further seek the approval of his incarcerated father? Hopefully we will find out this season.
Three: There’s Deandra “Sweet Dee” Reynolds, an amateur comedian, actress, pugilist, fashion designer and “Aluminum Monster.” We can only wonder if she will decide to try out again for the Philadelphia Eagles. Considering her body is “90 percent scoliosis,” it’s unlikely, but we can hope.
Four: There’s Frank Reynolds: leader, teacher, gambler, entrepreneur and possible Vietnam hero. Frank is known for running a sweatshop, managing a no-rules utopian bar and pimping out his son. Whether you think it’s fair or not, he’ll bet you on it. Yes, he will bet you on whether you think it’s fair or not.
Philadelphia Adult Entertainment: gop’s Vitter: Reid ‘Thumbing His Nose’ at Calls to Investigate ACORN

Vitter, a Louisiana Republican, also said the community organizing group’s lawsuit against the young couple who took now infamous hidden-camera videos of ACORN staffers is a “slap in the face of the First Amendment.”

Vitter was elected to the U.S. House in 1999, then to the Senate in 2004, and he is up for re-election next year.
Newsmax.TV’s Ashley Martella noted that Vitter has been “locking horns” with Democrat Reid over ACORN, the acronym for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. Congress recently voted to cut off federal funds to the group after the videos came to light showing ACORN workers giving tax and other advice to the couple, who were posing as a prostitute and a pimp trying to open a brothel.

What does ACORN mean?
Thursday September 24, 2009
Not to long ago, I got a ton of emails re ACORN. I dismissed them, mostly because I didn’t know what ACORN meant nor if it had anything to do with Houston. I literally said, “What does ACORN mean?” at least twelve times last week.
I ended up checking it out a bit over these last few days and learned that (a) ACORN is a community activist group that provides free housing counseling to low to moderate income homebuyers, (b) they were recently burned big time when a video showed some of their employees instructing a “pimp” and a “prostitute” on some less than legal ways to handle a money dilemma, and (c) they, in fact, do have offices in Houston.
ACORN has been on a PR clean-up campaign as of late following the videos, and some Houston officials have been looking into actions of the ACORN offices in Houston. (Here’s a story the Chronicle ran about the situation.)

What the teachers want is ridiculous compared with real world salaries and benefits most parents receive. The era of free health benefits is long gone; most workers contribute upwards of 35 percent of the cost of their benefits. So a contribution of less than half that, as proposed by the board, is unheard of in the real world. Likewise, the 3 percent annual salary increases the teachers were offered is more than generous at a time when most people have had their wages frozen or cut – or their jobs eliminated.
Somehow, and we don’t understand how, teachers just don’t get it.
Maybe board President Ritchie Webb is on to something with his suggestion that teachers “live a sheltered life.” After all, teachers, unlike the great majority of workers, remain unaccountable to anything resembling a bottom line.
To ACORN for + well, you name it, but what we have in mind is its lawsuit against the undercover videographers, posing as a pimp and a prostitute, who taped ACORN employees giving them tax advice.

Bernard Siegel, Stephens’ attorney, told Minehart what his client did was, as “in the words of a Tammy Wynette song, she stood by her man.”
“She went with him while he ran. That’s it,” he said.
Prosecutor Mark Gilson, however, said Stephens had done much more than that. He described Stephens as an “unrepentant career criminal” with “17 arrests, 11 convictions, five commitments to prison,” 10 aliases, five dates of birth and 20 addresses.
Records show Stephens to be 36 or 39 years old. She had lived in Hunting Park and had also lived with Floyd in North Philly.
Siegel, who later said he would appeal the convictions, told the judge most of Stephens’ prior offenses were for prostitution. At the time of her arrest with Floyd, Stephens was on probation in a drug case.
